Last week it has been reported that Google has encountered a huge technical difficulty, such difficulty was particularly focused on Google’s email service Gmail. Gmail’s free email service has shutdown causing people who have accounts and who relies on the services of the company for communication through email were left to fend for themselves. It is no secret that email is now one of the most widely used form of communication that is why when Gmail started to go haywire many have freaked out knowing that they will or might not receive those important communications whether it be personal or business. After a thorough investigation regarding the incident Google has released or published their findings which points to the overload in the Contacts service in Gmail. During this time, according to the report, Gmail users were unable to access their Gtalk accounts  and users were even prohibited from adding users in the Google Apps account which are both controlled under the Gmail services of the search engine company giant. Events that eventually led to the non-accessibility of the whole Gmail service among different Gmail subscribers, after one hour of dilemma the Gmail services were successfully restore and services were back to normal. Although such prohibition of access to the services of Gmail lasted only for one hour, Google has sent its deepest and sincerest apologies admitting their error and promising to give quality service to each and every Google subscriber or user. An apology that is well expressed despite of the fact that such is considered by many to be a minor technical issue.

Website Design is not created or done on a flick of a finger, it is a product of brainstorming, research and creativity. The main rule according to the Word Wide Web Consortium was that content must be separate from presentation. This is the reason why W3C removed some tags for designing the presentation of the web page in HTML. Google the search engine giant has released another feature for its Google toolbar and that is the Google Sidewiki. So what is Google sidewiki? Google, the revered search engine giant also has its own humbling moments. Although regarded as the number one search engine for how many years, leaving the other players such as Bing and Yahoo by more than a mile, the search engine giant has faced several challenges, most specifically on their projects such as Google Books and their presence in China. Google Books has been constantly battered by criticisms coming from book authors and publishers particularly assailing the anti-trust law violation that may have been committed by Google in monopolising and owning rights to sell even those books that are already out of circulation, although settlements has been made between Google and groups of American writers and publishers, Google will still face a tough challenge from the group of international writers and publishers.

The problem in Google Books is not the only problem that Google is facing, the search engine giant is losing its grip on the asian market particularly in China where it has a considerable number of internet users. China have constantly tussled with Google, the latter has been accused of distributing and promoting smut in China, the search engines’ operations were shut down several times and projects have been slowed down. To add to Google China’s problems its China Operations’ Leader stepped down in order to start a company for Chinese citizens who would like to start a tech business. Not to mention also the fact that Google China is ranked below a home grown search engine Baidu.
Truly, even the seemingly invincible giant has its own Achilles heel and for Google its their China operations.

The report that the World Wide Web Consortium have already released the draft copy of the new version of HTML has everyone excited. The draft was released sometime early this year but it has every webmaster and web developer talking. First everyone is excited about the incorporation of new tags that can ease the web design work cutting down the coding from several codes to only one. This innovation was thought of as an answer to the growing demand in the field of web design, the identification of the basic anatomy of  a web page has led to the creation of tags that will pertain to a specific section within the web page. This will then revolutionise the field of website design. Although still in its draft stage, experts from different companies has given their opinion about the new version of HTML. It must be recalled that HTML started during the 1990’s and since then the HTML has been revered as the lingua franca of the web. This is because every website design is based on the tags or elements in HTML. From HTML 1.0 to HTML 4.01 up to the formulation of XHTML 1.0, is proof that HTML has gone through a lot of improvements in order to conform with the constant change over the internet and to accommodate the new technologies that are being released at an exponential rate.

The transformation of XHTML or HTML 4.01 to HTML 5 means that there will be major changes that web developers will undertake when such version of HTML is finally approved.
