Web browsers have been an integral part of any online business. Many web browsers came out with the advent of new technologies being developed. As of today famous browsers such as Mozilla Fire Fox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome, Safari among others have constantly been locked in battle against each other, mostly a battle about what browser is the best. It is because of this band wagon on the creation and development of web browsers that the search engine giant Google has developed their own web browser called Google Chrome. Google chrome is the search engine company’s answer to the growing number of web browsers that are out in the market. Chrome displays a whole new look and interface that is of course Google centered or so it seems. It has been found out in recent tests that Google’s own toolbar that integrates well with internet explorer and Mozilla firefox is unable to be installed in Google Chrome. This is ironic as the program that was created by Google itself to augment the web browsers’ toolbar according to the specifications of Google is not able to be installed in their very own web browser. Upon installing the toolbar 5 of Google into Google Chrome the error message: “ We’re sorry but the Google toolbar 5 is only available for Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer”. Although there is a little need for the Google toolbar when you are using Google Chrome due to some interfaces were already incorporated, this incompatibility however sends the wrong signal to Google users and even first-time Google users.

In the recent report released by SEO’s and SEO companies it has been found that the use of keywords is still in play and that such is still an integral part of the entire SEO strategy. However, the use of keywords in the title texts does not merely instruct the placing of such but rather it was found out the most search engines if not all prefer title texts that are conversant rather than just placing your keywords in between the title tags. This method has been widely used by SEO companies and SEO consultants as it proved to be a strategy that is being considered as optimising that part of the web page. With the diminution of the importance of the meta tag due to the abuse of its use during the early days of Search engine optimisation the next best option is the effective use of the keywords in the title tag of the web page. To effectively use the keywords you do not have to flood your title tags with all your chosen keywords, it would be wise to utilise only your primary keywords and your best secondary keywords in this way you can limit and focus all your SEO efforts in optimising the web pages using only a few keywords.

Optimising the title tag by use of keyword is also dependent on what part of the web page that is. For example for a home page or the first page of your website it would be advisable to write the title according to what the entire website is all about. For example if your website is all about website design then rather that just placing the word website design in your home page’s title it would be better to place “The premier place to find the best website designs”. In the example given the title is conversant to the website visitor and thus information if given at the start of the web page on the title level. For other web pages in your website it is also recommended that you utilise the keywords in a phrase or a single sentence as their title. Just like in a links page in your website instead of placing the title links page it would be better to utilise a sentence or phrase such as “Find more pages that gives creative website design ideas”. Again the statement is conversant and it utilises the keyword website design. This is means only one thing, and that is the use of keywords does not have to be for the search engine spiders only, in order to fully claim that the keyword use is fully optimised it should also be tailor-made in such a way that it also converses with your website visitor.

Incorporating images is an integral part of website design, images can liven up your website and since its incorporation to the web pages it has stopped the production or construction of plain text websites. Images can increase the graphic representation of your text, it allows your visitors to see the websites’ content accordingly. Most importantly the incorporation of your images in your website design contributes to the aesthetics of the website which is one of the factors that many website visitors or internet users are looking for. However, the inclusion of images in your website design is not a hit and miss process rather, to make the website design aesthetically pleasing to the website visitors three different ways of placing or positioning your images is being suggested by those who have been in the business of website design for a long time. First technique that you can use in placing your image is the technique called proximity. This is a technique where it capitalises on the distance of images with each other. Correct proximity can visually highlight a certain area in a web page or it can even highlight the whole web page. This strategy is particularly useful when you are dealing with the web pages’ margins and paddings.

The second strategy or technique in website design that focuses on the use of images is called unity. This is a process where images are placed together with other images which will then produce a unified output. This is where image elements are correctly placed together in order to form one single unit in the website design but further such individual element can still stand as an individual image. Finally, the last technique that is to be utilised in order to create an aesthetically pleasing website design is the technique dubbed as repetition. Repetition means the placing of the same image in the website design which would then form a single cohesive unit. Repetition does not only however pertain to combining the same image rather it also focuses on repeating the use of the same color or even texture.

Google, Yahoo and Microsoft has been known to keep their search engine algorithm a secret, and rightly so because if such information leaks out then everyone would be abusing such information and everyone will be ranking first in the search engine’s results page. Having such search engine algorithm to be kept a secret does not however prevent SEO consultants and SEO companies from trying to decipher the search engine algorithm. It is the SEO consultant’s duty to try which among the already existing strategies and also the newly developed SEO strategies would give the best result in giving the website a high Search engine results page ranking. Every year SEO companies and SEO consultants are banding together in order decipher the search engines’ algorithm. According to the latest report that was released there are several SEO strategies that are effective in giving your website a high Search engine results page ranking, among them is the use of external link. External linking is the process where a webpage or website other than yours have incorporated a link to your website.

This strategy is also viewed by Google as one of the basis for it’s page rank because of the fact that a link from an external website other than yours going to your website is considered as a vote to your website. However, incorporating an external link is not outrightly judged by Google or any other search engine as an immediate factor that will affect the websites’ ranking on SERP or even in Page rank. This is because the 2009 report of SEO’s exhibited the fact that there are several factors that should be present in an external link before such is considered to be a criteria that will increase the ranking of the website. One such factor is that the website that contains the link to your website should have a trustranking, trust rank is an algorithm that was pioneered by Yahoo which detects valid websites from spam sites, this means that the site that will link to your website can be detected by the search engine as either a valid website or a spam website. Second is the presence of anchor texts in the external link, this is not new to any SEO as anchor texts have been around since the inception of HTML, this just means that keywords should be incorporated in the link title or the anchor text for it to be considered as an optimised external link. Third is that the website linking to your website should have a degree of authority, this means that the website has  been proven to be reliable and as such it gains so many website visitors and even followers. Fourth, is that the website should have a significant page ranking, page ranking is still considered to be an important factor in gaining a viable external link. This only means that a website that will link to your website should have a page ranking preferably a page rank of three and above. The last factor that should be present in an external link is the link position, links should be in a high link position otherwise it will be suppressed by the other links that are above it.

In the past YouTube was once being considered by many as a losing arm of Google. This may have been attributed to the fact that the website YouTube is a free online social video network that allows people from all walks of life to publish or broadcast their home made video online. Since its acquisition Google has not been gaining significantly from the website not until the past months where it was reported that the new advertising scheme that Google has incorporated with its videos, like a type of an advertising commercial inserted in every video, has been raking up significant amount of money from advertisers, not to mention a planned tie-up with Walt Disney and even the proposed broadcasting of movie trailers online. It is because of this growth in the income of YouTube, Google wanted to share the profits with its loyal users. Google has come up with a scheme that allows the video uploader to gain a portion from the advertising income when he or she has produced and uploaded a video that has gone viral. This means that there should be a significant number of views that a video must have, therefore not everyone who uploads videos in YouTube will be given such portion in the advertising income. Certain criteria have to be met by the video before income share will be given to the uploader.

One such important criteria is that a video must become viral or in other term famous, where the video should gain a considerable amount of viewers, this criteria is important because of the fact that when advertisements are added into viral videos it has better chances of increasing revenue both for YouTube and the user. People who have regularly been uploading videos through YouTube can start earning profits via the company’s ad-partnership program. This is a program that will be applied using the so called one-off hit scheme where Google will invite video uploaders who’s videos qualify for the ad-partnership program and thus would only allow those videos who qualify to earn through their video. Up to this time Google has not disclosed how many hits or views should a video have before it qualifies to the ad-partnership program.

It is no secret that link building is considered to be one of the most effective Search engine optimisation strategy that is currently being implemented by many SEO companies and SEO consultants. This may be attributed by the fact that search engines gives more credit to websites that are seen as reliable and those that have relevance to the theme of the target website in relation to the website linking to it. Search engines nowadays have incorporated in their algorithm to look not only for quantity of links but also quality of links. This means that the total number of links going to your website and away from your website is not the only controlling factor but also the quality or more specifically the relevance of such link on whether or not the website linking to your website is discussing the same topic, otherwise such link will then be considered to be of low quality and may be a cause for your website to be branded by search engines as spam site.

There are several strategies that can be done in a link building process, the first one is through the use of viral contents, a viral content is a type of content the sparks interests among its readers. It is just like any other text content but has the property or characteristic of being interesting, to be more specific the content is very interesting enough that it prompts readers or internet users to voluntarily share the information with others. Sharing information on this point however does not pertain to copying and pasting the text into an email rather sharing the link of the website with others. Another strategy that can be utilised and has been proven to be a good link building strategy is through the use of blogs. Blogging can increase your website’s traffic and moreover it can contribute greatly not only in your link building efforts but also in your Search engine optimisation campaign in general, this is because blogging allows you to utilise your chosen keywords efficiently and further it allows you to link to a website and what SEO consultants and SEO companies usually do is that they create a link that points towards the target website.

What these strategies currently are pointing out is that content still plays a big role in the link building strategies and moreover in the SEO process. Thus, it is very important that content building or construction should be part of one’s inclusive knowledge.

Search engine optimisation is a combination of different strategies that are implemented in order to give the target website a high search engine results pages ranking or (SERP ranking). The strategies implemented however, does not readily mean that your website will be given a high SERP ranking, this is because there are several factors that will affect your SERP ranking and some if not all the strategies may or may not be affecting such factors. Factors affecting a website’s SERP highly depends on the search engine’s algorithm and it is a common knowledge that such search engine algorithms are always kept a secret by the search engine companies and thus SEO agents, SEO companies and SEO consultants must employ Search engine optimisation strategies without knowing whether or not such strategy will work. SEO consultants and SEO companies can however, develop a checklist on what factors are currently affecting the ranking of a website and from there develop their own SEO strategy or SEO approach. At present there are several key factors that was noticed by SEO consultants and SEO companies to have been affecting the SERP of a website. The following factors are divided according to its approaches or type the first one is according to on-site optimisation using keywords.

The on-site optimisation using keywords factor that was seen to have been affecting the SERP of a website is generally via the effective use and placing of keywords. To be more particular about it keywords found in strategic locations within the web page is highly favored by search engines. Among these strategic locations are the title tag, where the use of keywords in the title tag most specifically as the first word in the title tag is considered as one controlling factor, another is the use of the keywords in the root domain of the website and also inside the heading tags most specifically <h1>. The next approach or type is centered on the different on-site factors which do not utilise the keywords, one such factor affecting the SERP of the website is the incorporation of relevant and original content to the website along with the constant update on portions or whole of the content. This keeps the content fresh and of high quality as search engines give value to websites that incorporates contents that are highly relevant to the overall theme of the website and further a content should constantly be updated because freshness of the content is also being considered by search engines as one factor that will affect the SERP ranking of the website. Finally, search engines still considers linking as one of the factors that can affect your website’s SERP therefore having a valid on-site link is very important as well as having an external link. This means that link building strategy is still being considered as a valid strategy that should be incorporated by an SEO consultant or an SEO company in their SEO campaign.

Search engine optimisation is not the only factor that will spell the success of your website or your online business, you also have to consider conversion rates or the number of people who are actually acquiring your product or services. To be considered to be a website that is of high quality you have to take into consideration the different properties that a website should have. First, a website should have an aesthetically presentable design, it is basic for a website to have a design but what is controlling should be the presence of aesthetics in the design of the website. Website design should be viewed as an art and the combination of images and colors should work together as a whole. An website that is designed artistically already state that quality of the website, the first thing that your visitors would see is the look and feel of your website and having such beautiful design will give your visitors confidence that your website is indeed reliable because much work has been put into the construction of it. The content of your website is another factor that should be present, taking particularly in the typography of the texts. Typography refers to the fonts, font sizes and even font colors used in your website. You have to take much consideration on the fact that although design is important, in terms of text contents readability should be paramount than the design itself as your content conveys that much needed information to your users, in other words before making your fonts or texts look cool you have to make sure that they can be read first.

Having a beautiful website, incorporating animation and other website design factors may prove to be futile in your campaign to rake in traffic if such website is of no use. This means that websites should also be usable aside from being aesthetically presentable. Usability here means that users or website visitors should easily navigate the website and that users should not be guessing on where the links are or what the buttons provided does. It should help users easily follow instructions in your registration processes or easily navigate your website without any external help. Lastly your website should have valid links, this means that users will have access to all the web pages that you want the public to see, accessibility is an important factor not only for human visitors’ use but also for search engine spiders’ use. That is why all links in your website should be valid.

It is no secret to all that ever since Google has emerged as the foremost leading search engine company in the world its competitor Microsoft and Yahoo has been constantly trying to take away such title. But it is not only in the search engine field that the companies are battling each other out but in any other business ventures such as the search advertisements and even the operating system industry. Now the two companies Yahoo and Microsoft is being joined by another prestigious company that deals with the selling of books, this is the company known as Amazon. This opposition to Google by Amazon along with Yahoo and Microsoft emanated from the fact that Google is nearly complete with its project known as Google Books. The project Google Books aims to publish or rather advertise different types of books even those books that are already out of print but still has copyright protection or otherwise called the orphaned books. This project aims to digitise all books even those out of prints with the aide of the different national libraries and then sell the books online and sell ads done on book searches. The proceeds that will be taken from this venture will be divided among and between the author and publishers where seventy percent of the proceeds will go and with Google where the remaining thirty percent will be accounted for.

Yahoo, Microsoft and Amazon has banded together and formed a coalition that will oppose such action by Google. This is because of the fact that the group assails that with Google controlling the publication of such books there would be a possible violation of the antitrust law and even the right to privacy of a citizen, not to mention the fact that Google can then dictate the prices of such books and would then make the possibility of the search engine giant tagging the books with unreasonable pricing. The coalition was formed give a united voice in opposing the Google book project.

Can a website designer also be it’s SEO? Many online entrepreneurs ask that question, and sadly many also do not get the connection. Search engine optimisation deals with the implementing optimisation strategies so that a web page or a particular website as a whole will have the feature of being indexed and ranked among the different search engines. Search Engine optimisation is also known as the most cost efficient marketing strategy that can be done if you want to start advertising or marketing your business or your website for that matter. The connection of search engine optimisation is in its target, and what SEO targets is the actual website, and who makes websites? Website designers, of course, a fact that is often being ignored. Having established that website designers have a lot to do with search engine optimisation let us dwell now into the basics in HTML that can affect your search engine optimisation campaign. In search engine optimisation many SEO companies and SEO consultants rely on two things in their campaign, these are onsite or on-page optimisation and offsite or off-page optimisation.

The former is the main focus of the website designer as such is processes where the web page is optimised by using the different tags effectively which are being constantly being focused upon by search engine spiders. It may come as a surprise to some website owners that what is being focused upon in search engine optimisation more specifically on on-page optimisation are the basic codes, it does not therefore require anyone who would like to do on-page optimisation to concentrate on the different advanced coding techniques. One example is the use of the page title or the title tag. This tag does not pretty much do anything in website design perspective but to display the web pages’ title on the web browsers menu bar. But for search engine optimisation the insertion of the page title and the effective use of which is among the different criteria that the search engines look for, thus insertion of this basic code is particularly essential in your search engine optimisation campaign and such should never be ignored. Inserting heading tags are also important in search engine optimisation as search engine spiders particularly pays much attention to words that are highlighted by virtue of the heading tags like <h1> and <h2> among others. Although website design has an alternative way of making the text content in bold form the use of the heading tags would be much favored by the search engines as it views such heading tag as a way of emphasising a terminology or a text, couple that with a keyword then you are on your way to having an optimised content.

One last basic website design knowledge that is now being ignored is the inclusion of meta data, many SEO companies and SEO consultants have now started to ignore the meta data, but this was not always the fact because during the early days of search engine optimisation the meta data was the main factor that affects the ranking of a website. But because of abuses seen on the use of the meta data search engines have altered their Search engine algorithm in order to favor other factors aside from the presence of the meta data, thus now it is often overlooked by SEO practitioners.

It may be true that the meta data has lost its luster but search engines still consider the meta data as an integral part of the website in the information side, this means that although it’s presence will not give you a number one ranking, the meta data however will contribute to the proper indexing of your website as you can specify in the meta data the keywords that you wish your website to be associated with, in addition with the fact that you will be able to introduce or describe your website in the meta data which will be among the first text that your searchers will encounter when your site will be displayed in the search engines’ SERP. These may be little things in website design but it’s effect could be great so therefore as a prudent SEO you should not take simple things for granted, who knows that one criteria may be the deciding factor between page one or page two in the search engine results page.
